BAND CAMP

Hi everyone; I am looking forward to seeing you all next week for camp!  We start at 8a on Monday, July 21. Lunch is from 11-12. Rehearsal ends at 5p. Some things to remember/keep in mind.

1. It is HOT. Marching band is an outdoor activity. We won't be out in the hottest part of the day, but it's always hot this time of year! Make sure you are hydrating. Make sure you are eating. PLEASE take care of yourselves. The adults will do their part to take care of you; you MUST meet us halfway.

2. We will try to keep coolers of water and Gatorade available for you each day. I recommend bringing your own bottle to refill when we are outside. If you bring bottles, we generate less trash. With that being said, we will gladly take any donations of water or POWDERED Gatorade (so we can mix it in the spigot coolers we have). A stash of snacks, such as peanut butter crackers, granola bars, or similar items, would also be appreciated to help us get through camp.

3. Speaking more about outside, please dress for the weather. I will have on shorts, a t-shirt, a goofy hat, and athletic shoes with socks. What you wear still needs to be school-appropriate, but remember: we have to go outside. It's just part of the deal. You are welcome to bring handheld fans, wear sunglasses, or even set up tents and umbrellas to stay cool. If you bring that sort of stuff, you are responsible for its setup, take down, and storage every single day.

4. You may NOT leave campus during lunch. Period. End of story. You can bring lunch or eat in the cafeteria. Please note that you will need to arrange your own lunch on Friday. Breakfast and lunch are available Monday through Thursday, both weeks of band camp.

If you have to miss a rehearsal for any reason, please send me a message through this app. I appreciate those of you who have already let me know/reminded me of absences. Be ready to work next week and get this year started the right way!

This is a completely optional aside: the city of Jemison is having an event on Friday night from 6-9 in Old Town. They plan to acknowledge fall sports, which includes us. If you want to go and represent us, go for it! I have a conflict and will be unable to attend. Again, there is no requirement to do this; it might be a fun event.
